Distortion of the human body in its greatest form

PS-> how many of you have seen Avatar? SO AMAZING!

Lay lady lay, lay across my big brass bed

Decided to play with the hair and go the androgynous route. Sorry for the little flick in the second photo. However, I love how just a change in the style of one's hair can change their appearance or how people perceive them entirely.

All the bad names gone and all the good ones were wrong

Went to Tommy Hilfiger today seeing as they were having a sale. 40-60% off everything. Oh boy. I ended up limiting myself to three things but they are fantastic. The first is a basic black button-up shirt but is the perfect one. I find button-ups hard to shop for so that was fantastic. The second item is a seafoam green (? i dunno it looks more green in real life than in the photo) v-neck knitted sweater and the final one is a black spring jacket.

Since it was a casual day I just wore the outfit below. I paired my neon pink Aritzia polo with Dynamite skinnies and a vintage locket (with a picture of my cat inside!). I've heard girls say that after they cut their hair very short they dress more feminine to balance it out but I'm sorta going in the other direction. Gender rebellion, uh oh.. just kidding, just kidding. But I do find that I'm opting for skinnies (I don't like flared pants very much) with a gender neutral shirt. Possibly getting a mohawk, button up shirts and plain denim? Oh yeah, I'm so butch.

I saw mommy kissing Santa Clause...

My Christmas consisted of wrapping presents last minute, filling myself with stuffing, laughing too hard at idiotic (so says my father) movies and watching Jersey Shore with my sister until 1:30 in the morning. Way too much fun!! Some of my presents were a new iPod (desperately needed, my old one was totaled), Taylor Swift cd, Tropic Thunder dvd and a giftcard to our local shopping mall. I gave my sister seasons of the show Supernatural, my mom a gps and my dad a bunch of tools and car things.

What did you guys do? Received? Give?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

December 21, 2009

This is life before you know who you're going to be

Hey guys!
So I tried to dye my hair a light/medium brown to attempt to bring it back to my natural colour and it could all grow out together but then....
Photobucket
Yeah. Came out way darker than I had anticipated (btw that's homemade Christmas chocolate in my hand). I like it but I got scared because when my hair was wet it was black. Literally. Anyways, I'm still seriously debating the mini-mohawk thing but if I do it won't be until the New Year.

I also finished all my Christmas shopping today -except for two friends- and am now just relaxing. I also applied to university yesterday!! HOW CRAZY IS THAAAAT?! My sister helped because I kept getting confused and at the end she patted my head and said "you're all grown up." The only part that was truly horrible was that I found out that two of the six universities that offer my program (concurrent education) require university level math in grade twelve. Am I taking it? No. Did my guidance councellor say I don't need it? Yes. Did she LIE to me? Yes. SOOO I had a mini break down aka I thought I had no future and bawled but it's ok!! It all worked out hahaha. Oooh man that was scary though, no joke.

Incase I don't post before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday filled with laughter, family and love. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Anything to make me feel alive

It's finally Christmas break! No more school for two weeks (although I still have school work, blagh) but lots and lots of actual work at my job! Oh well, the more shifts the more money right? Aaah man, working 8 1/2 hours tomorrow and then 7 1/2 Christmas Eve (shifts inbetween those) ... should be interesting haha!

I'm also going to start applying to Universities this weekend; scary thought. This first semester went by so fast (probably because 99% of it was all good stuff going on) and I just cannot believe that I'm almost a young adult. Seems so... impossible. I mean, real responsibilities? Uh oh.
And speaking of universities, have any of you started applying? If yes, to where and for what? Also, for those of you fellow Canadians, you get to apply to 3 "in province" universities for free and then start paying after that, right? Because something different happened to my friend and now we're very confused.

Remember that semi-sheer tshirt I told you about a couple posts back? This is it! Suuuuper comfy!

Alright, it's almost 11pm and I work tomorrow at 8:30am, I should probably go to bed. I'm not even close to being tired though. Oh well.

Final thing (I swear!): I've gotten some new followers and readers as of late and I just wanted to say thank you! I really appreciate everyone, new or old readers, taking the time to visit my blog. It means so much to me. Thank you a million times over.

I'm staring at my feet, my cheeks are turning red

My amazing friend Sonal helped me out today by taking these photos! We did it during spare in a stairwell (...that's what she said) but I get really uncomfortable taking pictures infront of people (do any of you?) so we stopped everytime someone passed. At one point I saw someone about to open the door and I just yelled "gangsta gangsta!" and we burst out laughing.

Anyways, onto a less awkward and embarrassing story, these socks! They're actually my rugby socks from grade nine. Yes, once upon a time I played sports! There's a hole in the back of the right one but *shhh* it's not that noticeable... Also, I've never done the "knee/thigh high socks" thing so I gave it a whirl. Not only did it keep my toes warm but I got positive feedback from classmates about the look. I'm glad, you might see it in the future (that is, if it doesn't become -20 degrees like predicted).

You're too pretty for me

Who? Paloma Faith (singer). She was voted "style loser" on fashionism.ca. Although I don't think it all works together, I don't think it's THAT bad. The orange jumpsuit is kinda cute... just not with the red shrug is all. I think it's daring enough that a simpler clutch and pair of shoes would have been enough. However, I admire her courage.

Give it to me

I just wanted to share with you all this great Brooklyn-based company called "Beetles and Flor." Everything they sell is completely handcrafted porcelain, topped off with 18k gold. If that isn't great enough, it's all skulls. From objects for your home to jewellery, these guys really have innovative pieces and I'm sure we'll be hearing much more about them very soon.

Their classic skull for $110:
My personal favourite, the jaw necklace, retailing for $70:

In our dreams we can leave on misbehaviour

OOOOHMIGOD!! Have any of you seen the trailer for the upcoming film "Avatar"? I want to see it. Don't ask me why, I just do.

Also, I got this cardigan at the new Zara in my town. It's not as great as the one in Toronto but I'm not willing to go that far (4 1/2 hour drive haha). Still, a Zara is a Zara. Too bad their shoes don't fit me...

This past Sunday I went to a family dinner and had a great time. I wore skinny jeans and a new semi-sheer black baggy tee with a graphic on the front (shall show you soon!) and a cardigan. I got to see my cousin, Alexander, who is five and all of a sudden talkative! He's so adorable. All in all, it was a great night. Squash pie with a brown sugar caramelized top (like creme brulee!!), grammee's stuffing made with potatoes, cream soda in a fancy glass - what more could I ask for?

Have any of you started holiday gatherings? Wish lists? What are your plans, if any?

For even in her sorrow, there's something in her eyes

Being re-addicted to Billy Talent, trying to find photos of me in grade nine and ten that don't involve being on facebook, trying to mix this weather into my wardrobe, actually saving for university, need to start APPLYING to university, washing hands a lot more often for no particular reason and trying to force a smile.

and we'll ride the rails with our pistols drawn.

can we fight to save our souls?

There are wonders we haven't seen yet

Jessica Simpson "Leticce Heel" - $80.99.
The woman may not be great but her shoes sure are.

My faith in you was fading as I met you on the outskirts of town

Hey guys! Have you ever had one of those days that go by so quickly but drag on at the same time? Or when it seems like you have nothing to do but you really have piles of work? I know they're completely contradictory but I swear that's how I feel. It's not that bad of a feeling, actually.

We've got mounds of snow, I'm wearing layers and it's not horrible. I'm not much of a layering person, I prefer simpler outfits, but it's not so horrid, hahaha.

The city that never sleeps but it'll slip you an ambien

Winter storm warning is officially in effect today. It's ridiculous outside. I work at Canadian Tire (for any non-Canadians, it's a hardware/car/houseware/sport store. We sell tires, candles, kayaks, snow blowers, tools, Christmas decorations...) and all anyone bought were shovels and windshield wippers. 'Cuz, you know, it's not like it's December and we knew this was going to happen..

On another note, these are the shoes I wore to my work Christmas party. They're a size ten so I'm pretty happy about that, makes me feel as though my feet are somewhat small. And do you guys remember me telling you I went to this super-amazingly-awesome thrift store with my dad? This is yet another jacket from there (I got 3) and I love it. It's so comfortable. It's built like a long blazer, has the thickness of a thin sweater and feels like a blanket. Sooo good.

Lastly, my friend Anna (who takes my pictures 98% of the time) thought it would be cute to do a "Holiday Fashion Shoot." So be prepared that by next week until the end of December, sometime I will post pictures of that event. There will be colour, skin and snow... that's all we've got so far HAHAHAHA!

Hope you all are having a great week!
